COMMENTS: The UV absorption measurement was performed using a Hg pen-ray lamp 184.95 nm light source, a 25 cm absorption cell, and a photodiode with a 185 nm band-pass filter

Absorption cross section measurements, using a monochromator with a D2 light source, at 195 and 225 nm demonstrated that the UV absorption spectrum of the permethylsiloxanes decreases significantly toward longer wavelengths with a cross section of less than 1×10-21 cm2 molecule-1 at 225 nm
